Terms & Conditions

1) Singer 1 Song, 3 Song and 5 Song sessions
a) We allow an approximate time of an hour per song per session plus an additional 
hour to mix, make and master photo CD's for the recipient to take home. Thus a 
singer with 1 song choice is 2 hours long, a singer with 3 song choices is 4 
hours and a singer with 5 song choices is 6 hours. 

Within this hour per song we generally record 3 separate takes of the singers 
performance and then use the best take with maybe some additional edits from other 
takes and mix the track down to our mastering machine. However, should the singer(s) 
take more than three takes to perfect their vocal performance, this may reduce the 
total number of chosen songs that the recipient can perform during their session.

b) Be sure to bring printed lyric sheets with a good sized font for reading from 
approximately 2 feet away. Failure to do this may result in delays while we print them 
for you.

c) Recipients are welcome to bring their own backing track(s) on CD (or CDG). We 
cannot however remove vocals from commercial recordings so your backing track(s) 
must not have a lead vocal pre-recorded on them.

d) Please note that for 2 participants singing a duet then they would sing at the same 
time using a microphone each.

e) Please be sure to rehearse well before arriving for your session!

The above applies to Single Singers and Party Stars,
The time structure for Bands is by negotiation at the time of booking.


2) CD(s) & DVD(s)
a) We are licensed by the MCPS for copyright control and use only pro quality backing 
tracks.

b) The CD(s) and DVD(s) given to recipients at the end of their session are for personal 
use only and should not be duplicated or distributed.

3) Vouchers
a) All vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase (except for when 
special promotions state to the contrary). 

b) Star Turns are able to offer extensions to existing voucher holders providing this is 
done within the valid period of the voucher. To extend a voucher further we currently 
charge £15 per month until the voucher is taken up (example: if your voucher expires 
in June, and you call in May and book our next available slot in August, then a further 
£30 would be required at the time of booking).

c) Vouchers must be redeemed within the period that the voucher is valid, as shown 
clearly on the voucher.

d) Vouchers are non-transferable unless under prior agreement by the Star Turns 
management team.

4) Upgrade
a) A Recipient (or voucher purchaser) can upgrade their experience should they so 
desire (eg. from singer 1 Song to singer 2 or 5 Songs). The additional charge will be the 
difference between the full RRP of the experiences and will exclude any offers or 
promotions. To upgrade please contact our offices on 01522 511113.

b) Upgrading a voucher does not extend the validity of the voucher (to do this see 3b).

c) A voucher cannot be downgraded.

5) Refunds and Cancellations 
a) We are happy to offer a refund on a voucher providing you contact us within 28 days 
of purchase. There is an administration cost of 20% (to a maximum of £30) that is 
deducted when a refund is given. the refunded money will be credited to the original 
purchases card. Should this card have expired then we ask to be notified in writing with 
the up-to-date credit card details so that we can refund successfully. A refund cancels 
the voucher and makes it invalid immediately. 

b) If an experience has been booked and the recipient cancels within 24 hours before 
their session starts this will render the voucher invalid and no further date can be 
offered.

c) If recipients fail to attend their booked session this will render the voucher invalid 
and no further dates will be offered.

d) If an experience has been booked and the recipient wishes to cancel their 
appointment up to 14 days before their booked date and time then it is possible that 
the Star Turns management will rebook a new time slot, but this will exclude weekend 
and bank holiday slots. We cannot however reschedule more than once.

6) Bookings 
a) The weekends can be our busiest time here at the studio therefore it is advisable 
that if recipients wish to redeem experiences on a weekend they should look to book at 
least 3 to 4 months in advance. Star Turns cannot be held responsible if the recipients 
desired redemption date is already booked. Please see 3b regarding extension of 
voucher validity.

b) If a recipient is late for their studio booking please note that it is not possible for the 
session to over run.

c) Star Turns has the right to move the studio location at any given time. Voucher 
holders that are booked in prior to any studio move will be informed either by 
telephone, email or in writing.

d) It is always advisable to check our web site (under "contact") for our current 
location. We are presently situated at Century Sound Studios, Clasketgate, Lincoln LN2 
1JS.

e) We advice all session goers to plan their route well in advance, and don't take your 
sat nav for granted! We advise anyone to arrive in Lincoln in plenty of time as it's 
parking and heavy congestion often makes voucher recipients late. 

f) Star Turns reserves the right to cancel and re-arrange sessions at any time.

g) Plan your route and allow plenty of time for your journey. You are advised not to 
turn up more than 15 minutes before the start of your session. If you arrive late we are 
not able to over run at the end of your session.

7) Age & Behaviour
a) If voucher recipient(s) behaviour causes concern in any way for Star Turns staff 
whilst they are on Star Turns premises we reserve the right to ask them to leave 
immediately thus terminating their session and invalidating the voucher.

b) We ask that all children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all 
times.

8) Confidentiality and Privacy
a) The information we may gather here on this web site is kept secure and strictly 
confidential. We use your details solely for the purpose of presenting, delivering and 
receiving payment for gift vouchers. We do not sell information to any third party 
companies thus you can be assured your details are safe with us.
